چکیده

In many knowledge-based systems the used knowledge is distributed among several knowledge sources. These knowledge sources may have dependencies between each other, which should be considered when maintaining these sources. An integrated maintenance approach for multiple Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) systems has to consider dependencies between the individual knowledge containers within one CBR system and the dependencies between the knowledge containers of different CBR systems. This paper describes the dependencies between knowledge containers in CBR systems from the perspective of the Case Factory approach and how possible maintenance actions could be derived from these dependencies.

Integrated Maintenance with Case Factories for Distributed Case-Based Reasoning Systems

Maintenance approaches for Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) systems focus on a single CBR system and mainly on a single knowledge container like the case base, the adaptation knowledge or the similarity. There are a few approaches that deal with shifting knowledge between knowledge containers, especially between the case base and adaptation knowledge. These approaches have been successfully applied t...

A reliability-based maintenance technicians’ workloads optimisation model with stochastic consideration

The growing interest in technicians’ workloads research is probably associated with the recent surge in competition. This was prompted by unprecedented technological development that triggers changes in customer tastes and preferences for industrial goods. In a quest for business improvement, this worldwide intense competition in industries has stimulated theories and practical frameworks that ...

Maintenance of Distributed Case-Based Reasoning Systems in a Multi-Agent System

In many knowledge-based systems the used knowledge is distributed among several knowledge sources. Knowledge maintenance of such systems has several challenges to be met. This paper gives a short overview of a maintenance approach using so-called Case Factories to maintain knowledge sources and considering the dependencies between these sources. Furthermore we present a concept how our maintena...

A Dynamic Fuzzy Expert System Based on Maintenance Indicators for Service Type Selection of Machinery

Due to the multiplicity of standards and complex rules; maintenance, repair and servicing of machinery could be done only by the fully qualified and proficient experts. Since the knowledge of such experts is not available all times, using expert systems can help to improve the maintenance process. To address this need and the uncertainty of the maintenance process indicators, this research prop...

Panel on Knowledge Maintenance Does Meta-Knowledge Complicates KM? The CBR Perspective

At this panel I wish to expand on my own preferred method of knowledge maintenance: Case-based construction of maintainable knowledge systems1. Knowledge maintenance is definitely a big challenge. Currently it is still associated with high effort and cost for many (most?) applications. Since knowledge management and organizational/corporate memories are more and more used in practice, any progr...
